Description

Number 3 is a mid-19th century terraced house on the west side of Cavendish Place, Brighton. The house is constructed of stucco, with a roof hidden behind a parapet. It rises five storeys over a basement, with a five-window frontage. The ground floor is decorated with banded and chamfered rustication. The flat-arched entrance has an overlight flanked by panelled pilasters supporting a ‘stepped’ entablature. All windows are flat-arched with architraves. A full-height canted bay window is located to the north of the entrance. The ground-floor windows have cast-iron window guards; the first-floor windows have pediments and a balcony with cast-iron railings. Above the first floor, the windows have bracketed sills. The windows to the second and third floors are corniced, and those to the third floor have cast-iron window guards while the windows to the fourth floor have keystones. A bracketed cornice sits above the windows, with chimney stacks to the party walls. The interior has not been inspected. Cast-iron railings with ornate finials are present at the area.
