Description

Two terraced houses, built around 1829, now combined into one property. The houses are constructed of stucco, with a roof hidden by a parapet. They are four storeys high over a basement and include dormers. The west-facing elevation has six windows, while the north-facing elevation, onto Cavendish Place, has five. The ground floor is decorated with banded rustication. An enclosed porch on the Cavendish Place side features two pairs of pilasters with small windows under hood moulds, a cornice, and a blocking course. The porch contains a panelled door of original design, now glazed. All windows are flat-arched; those on the ground floor facing King's Road have blind boxes. Giant Corinthian pilasters are present on the first and second floors of both facades, with a storey band separating those floors. The first-floor windows facing King's Road also have blind boxes and a balcony with cast-iron railings. A cantilevered, rectangular first-floor bay is situated on the left side of the Cavendish Place elevation, featuring pairs of pilasters, flat-arched windows with ornamental mouldings to the architrave, a guilloche band between the pilasters, an entablature, and a blocking course. The attic storey has flat-arched windows under round arches facing King’s Road. A full-height, mid-19th century canted bay is located on the right side of the porch, with mullions designed to resemble pilasters featuring stepped capitals, a bracketed balcony to the first floor, and a cornice. A cornice and blocking course run along the top of the building. Dormers are set into the mansard roof, and chimney stacks are located on the sides and along the former party walls. The interior was not inspected. Cast-iron railings with spearhead finials are present at the steps and area.
