Description
Numbers 23-26 and attached railings are a row of terraced houses dating from around 1845. They are constructed of stucco, with slate roofing to numbers 23 and 24, tile to number 25, and the roof of number 26 is obscured by a blocking course. The houses extend over a half basement and have three stories, with dormers to numbers 23 and 25. Numbers 23, 25, and 26 each have a different number of windows: two to numbers 23 and 25, and a three-window range to number 26, which is wider and incorporates a carriage way. Each house has steps leading to a flat-arched entry with an overlight. The ground floors of numbers 23 and 26 feature banded, chamfered rustication. The facades are treated as full-height, nearly full-width segmental bays, with flat-arched windows; some of the sashes retain their original design. An entablature and blocking course are positioned above the windows. Flat-arched dormers are present on numbers 23-25. Number 26 has a first-floor balcony with cast-iron railings, and windows on the first floor of number 25 also have cast-iron railings. Railings are also present to the stairs and area. Stacks are located within the party walls. The interior has not been inspected. Numbers 15, 17-18, and 20-26 form a group of buildings of group value.
