Description

This is an early 19th century terraced house with mid-19th century shop fronts on the return. The building is stuccoed with a tile roof and has four storeys over a basement. It has two windows and the front elevation is treated as a full-height, full-width segmental bay. The ground floor has chamfered rustication, currently under repair. There are plain cornice bands to the first floor, a moulded cornice to the second, and a cornice with a blocking course to the attic, all of which extend around the left return. All windows are flat-arched; those on the first and second floors have cornices. A flat-arched entry, framed by engaged Tuscan colonnettes and sidelights, is on the return elevation, with rusticated jambs and lintel. First and second floor windows have cornices supported by console brackets. The shop fronts to either side of the door date from the mid-19th century, with elaborate console bracket stops decorated with acanthus leaves, lions' heads and paws. There are stacks to the back and party walls. The interior has not been inspected. Railings are present to the stairs, areas and first-floor windows on the return.
