Description
A terrace of four houses, now flats and shops, built between 1828 and 1830. The architects were Amon Wilds and C.A. Busby. The buildings are constructed of stucco over brick, with the roofs hidden behind a parapet. They sit on the east side of Brunswick Square, to the south. Each house is four storeys high, with a basement, and has three bays. The fronts are bowed, with a baluster parapet, a moulded cornice, and flat string courses. The ground floor is rusticated. The windows are sash windows, with glazing bars on the third, second, and ground floors. The first-floor windows are French casements that open onto cast-iron balconies decorated with acanthus leaves. Most of the windows have blind boxes. The entrances are square-headed, without doorcases, and each has a fanlight. Number 2 has a late 19th-century door with two lights and stained glass. Number 4 has a four-panelled door, Number 6 is similar to Number 2, and Number 8 has a panelled reveals to an eight-panel door. Number 2 is missing its parapet. Cast-iron railings run from the entrances along the street frontage.
