Description

Seven late 19th-century lamp posts stand on Brunswick Place, Hove. They were manufactured by J. Every of Lewes and are constructed from cast iron. Each lamp post features a square plinth, chamfered to an octagonal shape with ribbed surface decoration, a slender shaft of clustered columns, a calyx capital, a swan neck support for the light, and retains its original shade. Some of the lamp posts have an arm designed for ladder access. Electricity was introduced to Hove between 1892 and 1893. The lamp posts are included on the list for their contribution to the group value of the area.
