Description
Number 27 is a c.1830 terraced house on the west side of Queen’s Road, Brighton. It is stucco-faced, with a parapet concealing the roof. The house is three storeys over a basement and has a three-window front. The ground floor is decorated with banded rustication, and features a broad, flat-arched entrance framed by pilasters and an entablature. All windows are flat-arched, with the outer windows being tripartite. A storey band separates the ground and first floors, and the first-floor windows have an architrave and cornice. A cornice sits between the first and second floors, topped by a secondary cornice and blocking course. The interior was not inspected during the listing process. The property includes cast-iron railings with decorative finials. Historically, Number 27 was the site of the dental hospital; Queen’s Road was once the location of many hospitals in Brighton.
