Description
No. 2 Mount Zion Place is a terraced house built in 1821 for William Shelley, as noted in the deeds. The house is constructed of yellow brick laid in Flemish bond, with red brick dressings and an asbestos slate roof. It has two storeys and a three-window range, making it double-fronted. The house features a gabled porch that dates from the late 19th century or early 20th century. The entrance has a round arch with a blocked fanlight and a reeded architrave around the doorcase. There are red brick quoins and cambered-arched windows with gauged red brick heads. A brick dentil cornice and a rendered end stack complete the exterior. The interior has not been inspected. William Shelley was the Beadle of the Church of St Nicholas, according to the deeds.
