Description
Manor Lodge is a house that has been divided into flats, built around 1810. It was enlarged, had some windows changed, and its verandah renewed in the late 19th century, with further alterations made in the mid to late 20th century when it was subdivided. The building has a picturesque villa style, featuring stucco over brick and hipped slate roofs. A parapet with a moulded cornice conceals rendered stacks.
The plan is double fronted with extensions on the rear elevation, which now serves as the entrance for the four flats. The building is two storeys high and has a façade of three bays on the left and two on the right, with the end two bays being bow-fronted. The first floor has sash windows with a single vertical glazing bar, except for the second bay on the left, which has a 12-pane window. There is a continuous canopy hooded verandah supported by pierced wooden columns, featuring a trelliswork balustrade on the ground floor. This area is accessed by a flight of three steps with a handrail, and there are three additional steps leading to the entrance from the garden. The ground floor has French casements with marginal glazing bars, and the entrance is located in the centre bay, accessed through an early 20th-century half-glazed door with sidelights. The rear elevation has late 20th-century alterations and additions.
