Description
The south and west boundary wall of the churchyard, which returns to High Street, is of medieval origin and has been rebuilt and renewed over time. It features coursed flint pebble facing combined with red brick, cement, and bonnet tile coping.
The wall runs continuously from the entrance to the churchyard of St Nicolas's Church, extending northward as the south and west boundary of the churchyard, and continues along the footpath to High Street. The total length is approximately 150 meters, and there is an entrance arch set into the wall near the junction with the footpath.
The height of the churchyard walls varies between 1 to 2 meters, topped with cement coping, while the section along the footpath reaches about 3 meters high, featuring vertical panels of brickwork and late 20th-century bonnet tile coping, sloping down at the High Street end. The doorway is made of the same stone as the west door of the tower of St Nicolas's Church. It is a chamfered pointed arch opening, believed to be medieval and likely reset from the nearby ruined manor house. The walls are part of a significant group with the adjacent structures.
