Description
Numbers 2, 3, and 4 are terraced houses built around 1818, likely designed by Amon Wilds and Amon Henry Wilds. The buildings are primarily made of stucco, except for No. 2, which is brick painted, and they feature slate roofs. They rise four storeys above a basement and include dormers, with a two-window range and a double-fronted design. The ground floor showcases banded rustication, while the round-arched entrance is framed by a broad porch with Doric antae, inner Ionic columns, and an entablature. All windows are flat-arched, and there are three-storey segmental bays on either side of the entrance, with the right-hand bays offset above the ground floor. These bays feature tripartite windows, a cornice, and a blocking course. A bracketed verandah on the first floor is adorned with cast-iron railings and a scalloped canopy. The central third-floor windows have a cornice on consoles, and the sashes throughout are of original design. The buildings also have a cornice and blocking course, dormers in the mansard roof, and stacks to the party walls. The interior has not been inspected. There is a plaque on No. 2 commemorating Dr. William King, a social reformer and author who lived there from 1828 to 1830. The properties are complemented by cast-iron railings at the steps and area, featuring conical finials.
