Description

The South African War Memorial, located in Regency Square, Brighton, was erected around 1905 to honor the men of the Royal Sussex Regiment who died in the South African War. The memorial is made of stucco and presumably bronze, which is now lacquered. It features a tall pedestal that is square in shape and designed to resemble an entablature and pediment at the top. At the pinnacle of the memorial stands a figure of a regimental trumpeter, with shell cases positioned at each of the four corners.
