Description
The terrace walls and steps adjoining New Lodge on the south-west corner were built around 1857 by T. Cubitt. They are constructed from stock brick with stone dressings, featuring stone balustrades and stone steps. The walls have a projecting plinth with weathered stone capping and moulded stone coping, along with slightly projecting piers at regular intervals. The balustrades are pierced and cusped, with inset leaf ornament and carved, moulded dies. On the north side, there are two flights of six stem steps; the flight closest to the house has weathered strings and four large square newels with moulded plinths and cornices, each topped with urns. This structure is included for its group value.
