Description
Ancaster House, also known as the Star and Garter Nurses' Home, is a large three-storey building made of brown brick, with later additions. The entrance side features four windows, including a prominent full-height segmental bay on the right, along with a porch supported by Tower of the Winds columns and an enriched frieze. The second-floor windows are blind. On the garden front, there is a pedimented porch, and on the opposite side facing Queen's Road, there are two bay windows, with a full-height semi-circular bay at each end of the facade. The building has square-headed sash windows that retain their glazing bars. Inside, there is a notable staircase.
