Description
The Church of All Hallows, located on Chertsey Road, is a Grade I listed building. The tower, originally designed by Sir Christopher Wren, was re-erected in 1940 as part of the new church. The tower is made of patterned stone and consists of three stages, featuring a very plain design except for a Corinthian porch. The modern church, constructed of brick-faced reinforced concrete, has five bays and round windows with Portland stone dressings. It is connected to the tower by a corridor on the north side of the west end. Inside, the church is fully furnished with items from the Lombard Street Church, including works by Grinling Gibbons from 1690 and 1856. Notable interior features include a fine pulpit, reredos, organ case, and several impressive monuments. The church complex also includes a modern Georgian vicarage and a parish room, forming a half H-block layout. The church was designed before 1940 and completed around 1953 by Robert Atkinson and Partners.
