SANDY LANE Monument to Timothy Bennet, at corner with Park Road

2. 1900. Black, green and brown terracotta. Tapering pedimented slab, with ornamental panel, inscribed "In memory of Timothy Bennet, Shoemaker of Hampton Wick, by whose efforts the adjoining footpath was preserved for the use and enjoyment of the public JCB 1900". The panel is surmounted by scrolls supporting a little pediment inscribed: "TB 1756" "I am unwilling to leave the world worse than I found it". How relief figures of Bennet and of a shoe-maker at work.
