Description
Petersham House, located at 143 Petersham Road, is a late 17th-century, three-storey house featuring a five-bay centre flanked by two-storey wings. The building is constructed of brown brick with red dressings. It has a small bracketed cornice beneath the second floor, which appears to be a 19th-century rebuild of the original attics. The ground floor is stuccoed and includes a central circular porch supported by four Ionic columns topped with a shallow dome from the early 19th century. The garden front showcases a carved, panelled doorcase and a wrought-iron balcony on the first floor. The property is enhanced by early 19th-century Greek revival cast-iron gates and railings along the road, as well as fine late 17th-century wrought-iron gates leading to the garden on the left. The interiors are notable, particularly the staircase.
