Description

The Wimbledon Common War Memorial, dedicated to the King's Royal Rifle Corps, is a short stone pillar topped with a slightly pyramidal shape, standing on a square platform. The front features a brass plaque displaying the regimental badge of the King's Royal Rifle Corps, which is designed as a Maltese cross with a crown, along with a list of the various campaigns the Corps participated in. On the back of the memorial, there is a plaque inscribed with the words: "TO THE MEMORY OF ALL RANKS / OF THE RESERVE BATTALIONS OF / THE KINGS ROYAL RIFLE CORPS / WHO TRAINED HERE AND / AFTERWARD GAVE THEIR LIVES / FOR KING AND COUNTRY / 1916 - 1918."
