Description
William Wilberforce School, formerly known as The Round School, is a school building constructed between 1758 and 1761, with extensions added in 1834 and later. The building was restored from 1974 to 1976 by Dry Halasz Dixon in collaboration with the Borough Architects Department. It is made of brick and features a steeply pitched tiled roof. The school has an octagonal plan with a short wing extending to the west and stands two storeys high. It includes segmental-headed, flush-framed sash windows with glazing bars. A pair of oculi are located flanking the ground floor window on the south side. The entrance on the north side is segmental, and there are segmental arches on the ground floor of the western projection. The building is topped with a brick eaves cornice.
