Description
The entrance gateway of Chiswick Park, along with its flanking walls on Great West Road, features vermiculated rusticated gate piers that rest on a plain plinth. The entablature above includes a Greek key frieze, swag ornament, and a cornice topped with a statue of a sphinx. The ashlar wall has a plinth and a single central wreath ornament, while the rusticated end piers support garlanded covered urns. Chiswick House, along with the garden buildings and ornaments, forms a cohesive group with this gateway.
