Description

Afton House, also known as the Chiswick Memorial Club, is an 18th-century building located on Bourne Place, W4. It is constructed of brown brick and stucco, featuring three storeys and an attic. The façade includes five double-hung sash windows set in reveals with flat arches. The ground floor is finished in rusticated stucco and has a semi-circular porch supported by two columns and two half-columns on plinths, all with fluted capitals and an entablature above. The elliptical doorway arch is adorned with a traceried fan and sidelights. The first-floor windows begin at floor level, with the central window featuring a stucco architrave and entablature. A modillion cornice runs along the top, and a parapet with a pierced balustrade is positioned in front of five dormers. The roof is a mansard style covered with slate. Inside, there are three rooms with deal panelling. A modern glass porch has been added to the entrance.
