Description
The entrance gate and front wall of Gumley House date from the early 18th century. They feature a pair of gate piers made of brown brick with red brick dressings, along with wrought iron gates. The piers have Portland stone bases, moulded caps, and ball finials, while the walls on either side are finished with coping. Each pier includes a marble inscription panel that reads "GUMLEY HOUSE." The gates consist of two leaves with arrow-headed dogbars and a scrolled overthrow. The walls are constructed in Flemish bond and have three red brick pilasters that project from the wall surface. The wall to the south of the gates has been rebuilt, likely due to bomb damage, while the longer wall to the north features several phases of construction and includes plainer square piers capped with Portland stone copings.
