Description
The garden walls and gate piers to Rode Street House date from the early to mid-18th century. They are constructed from red sandstone and English garden wall and stretcher bond brick, forming two sides of a rectangular enclosure. The entrance front features a stone plinth with central square piers that have a rebate for gates at the inner corner. These piers are topped with cyma-moulded stone caps and ball finials. The walling on either side has chamfered stone coping, and there are square corner piers with similar coping that project slightly but do not rise higher than the walls. The left-hand wall mirrors this design and terminates at the adjacent house on the left. This structure is noted for its group value.
