Description
20 High Street is a timber-framed building, likely dating from the 16th century, with alterations from the 17th century and modern updates. It has two storeys and features three windows. The old hipped tiled roof extends to the left at a lower level above the carriageway. The building has three gables that are continuously jettied over three first-floor oriel bay windows. The visible framing shows two different periods, with plaster filling. On the ground floor, the shop windows are modern but fit well with the building's character. The left return through the carriageway displays 17th-century square framing. There are also some 18th-century and early 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars in this section, along with further back extensions from around 1800. Inside, there is a lot of exposed timber. The building is part of a group with Nos 10 to 20.
