Description

Swakeley Cottage is a 17th-century brick building that has been pebbledashed. It stands two storeys high with three wide windows. The cottage features a high-pitched tiled roof with a chimney at the right end and a moulded wood eaves cornice. The ground floor includes a west wing made of timber frame with plaster filling, while the centre window on the first floor is blocked. The ground floor has attractive 19th-century four-light casements and a matching small square bay window on the right. A notable late 18th-century doorcase is present, featuring reeded pilasters, an urn and swag frieze with paterae at the corners, and a dentil cornice. At the rear, there are two late 18th-century wings with similar windows that are now pebble-dashed but still display a brick dentil cornice. To the east, there is a section of red brick wall with sloped coping and three tall piers, which has been rendered.
