Description

The monument to Annie Hall, located northeast of the war memorial and behind number 39 in St Martin's Churchyard, was created by the mason Eric Gill and dates from 1932. It is made of Portland stone and features a chest tomb with arcaded sides. The recessed panels are divided by squat colonnettes. The inscriptions, carved in Gill's distinctive Roman-inspired style, commemorate Annie Hall on the east end and Benjamin Hall, who died in 1934, on the south side. There is also a Latin inscription on the north side.
