Description

The Swan Inn is a building of several periods located on the west side of High Street in Ruislip. The left side features two ranges, each with a two-storey, one-window gabled end facing the road. The outer range dates back to the 16th century, while the inner range is likely from the early 17th century. The inner range serves as a left wing to the main block, which faces the front and consists of two storeys and two bays, topped with a hipped tiled roof and sprocketed eaves, dating from around 1700. There is a modern one-storey wing on the right with a steeply pitched roof. All roofs are covered with old tiles. The new wing is constructed of red brick, while the older sections are pebble-dashed and painted, except for the tile-hung first floor of the left range. Most windows are late 19th-century casements, and at the center front, there is a gabled shop projection.
