Description
Nos 1, 1A, and 1B on High Street in Ruislip are a group of buildings, with Nos 1 and 1A being a two-storey timber-framed structure, likely from the late 17th century, now covered in stucco. This part features three windows with small modern leaded casements. Attached to it is a projecting one-storey red brick wing that includes a small shop window with leaded panes and a covered entrance.
No 1B, accessed through this projection, is a high-quality timber-framed building from the 16th century. It has an oversailing design supported by carved brackets at the eastern end and displays square framing with brick infill. The building has a high-pitched tiled roof and features a pair of shortened diagonal chimney shafts near the west end of the ridge. No 1B also includes a modern shop projection.
At the southern end, there is a modern timber lych gate in a Tudor style, complete with a hipped tiled roof, providing access to the churchyard behind. Together, Nos 1 to 15 (odd) along with Nos 1A and 1B form a cohesive group.
