Description
Nos 51 and 53 on Montague Road are a pair of two-storey and basement houses built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from yellow stock brick and feature a slated roof with paired brackets at the eaves. The central carriageway is set under an elliptical gauged brick arch, with doors on either side—one with four panels and the other with six—both positioned under gauged round brick arches that have plain fanlights above. The first-floor windows are recessed sashes with glazing bars, while the ground floor has later canted bay windows. Stone steps lead up to the doors. Nos 51 to 59 (odd) are recognized as a group.
