Description
The Old Gatehouse is an early 16th-century gatehouse that once served the Manor House of the Paget family, which was demolished in 1750. It is constructed of red brick and stands two storeys tall. The gatehouse features a four-centred archway with moulded jambs, a label, and two fold doors that include a wicket on the right side. There are two semi-octagonal battlemented bays, each containing three 19th-century casement windows. The structure is topped with a modern crenellated parapet and chimneystacks. The Old Gatehouse is part of a group that includes St Martin's Church, the churchyard walls, the gatehouse and wall to the north, and the wall running to Gatehouse Nurseries.
