Description

Black's Bridge is a late 18th-century bridge located in the grounds of the former Gidea Hall, designed by James Wyatt. It is constructed of red brick in a combination of English and header bond. The bridge features three elliptical moulded stone arches, each with raised moulded stone roundels in the spandrels. The central arch is supported by stucco piers, which have semi-circular headed niches, a Doric entablature, and a cornice. The bridge is topped with a Portland stone coping, although there is a modern capping. The south side of the bridge has been altered due to road widening.
