Description
The stable block at Langtons, dating from the mid-18th century, is a two-storey building constructed of red brick. It features sashed windows in cased frames arranged in a pattern of four-three-four, although several of these windows are blind and painted to imitate glazing, and those in the south bay have been obscured at some point. The ground floor has a centrally located door set within a semi-circular headed recess. Originally, the windows were symmetrically arranged on the facade, but many have since been blocked or converted into doors. The building has a dentilled wooden eaves cornice, and the central three bays project slightly, topped with a pediment made of stock brick accented with red dressings around an oculus. The roof is tiled and features a modern or restored 18th-century style octagonal wooden glazed lantern, which has a modillion cornice and a shaped lead domed roof with a pillar and vane.
