Description
Langtons is a building with origins in the 18th century, although much of the structure dates from the early 20th century and is designed in an 18th-century style, with late 18th-century wings. The main section of the house is neo-Georgian, featuring three storeys and five bays, constructed of red brick with moulded brick bands between the ground and first floors and between the first and second floors. It has a modillion cornice and a parapet. The entrance is marked by a central porch supported by wooden columns, reflecting late 18th-century design.
Flanking the main building are two-storey wings made of stock brick with red brick dressings, each with canted bay fronts and one sash window on each face. The parapet includes oval windows with stone coping. There is also a single-storey red brick wing from the 18th century on the south side, which has five bays and stone coping on the parapet. The entrance front has been modernized. Inside, some late 18th-century features can be found in the ground floor rooms. The building is illustrated in C. T. Perfect's "Ye olde Village of Hornchurch."
