Description
The Church of St Andrew, built in 1862 by John Johnson, is a grade II listed ragstone church located on St Andrew's Road in Romford. It features a nave, chancel, and south aisle, with most windows being small and consisting of two lights with Decorated tracery. Above three small circular windows, there is a large west window. The church has a west tower set within the gable, which includes a battered plinth and angle buttresses. It is topped with a shingled broach spire and has a stone turret with a hexagonal cap adorned with ball-flower ornament and small quatrefoil windows above the west end of the south aisle. A prominent south porch enhances the entrance, and the church has an ornamental slate roof with decorated red ridge-tiles. To the north-east, there is an octagonal vestry featuring paired lancet windows with trefoil heads.
