Description

This pair of gate piers, dating from the early 18th century, marks the entrance to the road from the High Street in Edgware. They are likely associated with the nearby Canons estate and are substantial in size. The piers are made of ashlar, although they have been patched with cement and painted over time. Each pier features panelled sides, a carved front, and a frieze with a cornice topped by finials. The bases of the piers are moulded, adding to their architectural detail.
