Description
The New Schools, built in 1855 by F. Barnes of Ipswich, are designed in a Neo-Tudor style using red brick with blue brick diapering. The building has three main storeys and is situated on a hillside, featuring a projecting gabled one bay wing to the right. The main front includes four-light and two-light mullion and transom windows, while the left flank elevation has three-light windows. A prominent three-flue stack is located to the right, and the building is topped with a fretted parapet. There is a single-storey extension added in 1924, also in red brick, which is symmetrical and has four centre arched windows along with a central door that features a drip mould, comprising five bays in total. The return side has four bays and a panelled parapet with buttressing.
