Description
The Speech Room at Harrow School was built between 1872 and 1877 by William Burges in a Neo-medieval style. It is constructed of red brick and has a D-plan layout, featuring corner towers added in 1919 and 1925, one of which includes a statue of Elizabeth I from Ashridge Park. The interior features a hall with banked seating arranged in a semi-circle, a shallow internal wooden dome supported by cast-iron columns and hidden metal trusses. The building was not completed according to Burges's original design.
