Description

This is a terrace of six houses, numbered 3 to 9 Hyde Vale, built in the 1840s. Each house is three storeys high with a basement, and has two windows. They have steeply pitched slate roofs with eaves soffits. The houses are constructed of multicoloured stock brick, with a stucco band beneath the first-floor windows and a stuccoed basement. Narrow recesses are incorporated at the party walls above the cill band. The layout of the houses varies due to the rounding of the street’s curve. The sash windows have flat brick arches, with the ground-floor windows being wider and incorporating glazing bars. Some sashes have been replaced. Three steps lead to round-headed door openings within round arched recesses. The doors are panelled, with four or six panels each, and have cornice heads and semicircular fanlights, some of which are patterned.
