Description

Nos 10, 11 and 12 Nevada Street are a group of buildings dating from the late 18th century, located on the south side of Nevada Street, close to the Park entrance.

No. 10 is four storeys and has a basement. It has a single-window front. The building is constructed of multicoloured stock brick, with a rebuilt parapet concealing the roof. The upper three floors feature canted oriel bays with wood cornices, each containing three sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor has a plain sash window with glazing bars to the right. A flight of five steps leads to a six-panel door set in a deep panelled reveal, with a plain fanlight and a cornice head that is continuous with the abacus of fluted pilasters with leaf capitals. An open pediment with a dentil cornice rests on dentil cornices with paterae in the friezes. A canted oriel extends through two floors on the left return. Two plain sash windows are present on the Nevada Street return.

Nos 11 and 12 are each four storeys and have a basement, with a two-window front. They are also constructed of multicoloured stock brick and have a parapet concealing the roof. Gauged brick arches feature above the sash windows with glazing bars. The doors are paired in the centre and are topped by a single wide, open pediment with mutules, resting on mutule cornices above triglyph friezes and with attached Doric columns below. The cornice head is continuous with the abaci of these columns. Each door has a plain fanlight and is of six panels. Canted bays are located at the rear; No. 11’s is of wood, and No. 12’s has been renewed in brick.
