Description

This is an early 18th-century pair of buildings located on the east side of Fore Street, Upper Edmonton. They are two storeys high, with a basement, and each has three windows. The buildings are constructed of brown brick, with red brick quoins and dressings. Number 236 retains its original brickwork to the parapet, and has a slated roof. Number 238 has a renewed parapet and a galvanised iron roof. Both buildings feature gauged brick segmental arches with keyblocks, and stone sills and aprons to later casement windows. Number 236 has a modern shop on the ground floor, while Number 238 has a Roman Doric entablature surrounding the door, and original wrought-iron area railings.
