Description
The wrought iron screen and railings at the end of Forty Hill near the junction of Clay Hill date from the early 18th century. They consist of a low, stone-coped brick wall topped with ornamental wrought iron railings and a screen. Tall, stone-coped brick piers mark the ends of the structure. This feature is all that remains of a larger entrance to a house that no longer exists. The nearby properties numbered 70 to 76 (even) are grouped with The Hermitage and the attached Stable Building, along with their forecourt walls.
