Description
Holy Cross New Church, built in 1939 by Sir Albert Richardson, is a Grade II* listed building located on Ferrymead Gardens. This church features aisles and a clerestory, with an interior designed in the timber-frame style reminiscent of a Medieval tithe barn. The clerestory is adorned with leaded lights. The structure comprises ten bays, with three bays across the shorter north and south fronts, and it has brick aisle walls on all four sides. The south front includes a central entrance, flanked by bays with barred glazing. Above this, there is a large bay window featuring four light high by three light wide leaded lights with canted sides. The church is topped with a belfry that has an octagonal spire, and it has a tiled hipped roof along with deep aisle roofs.
