Description

Perivale Underground Station is a 20th-century structure located against a railway viaduct. It features a concave red brick front and a narrow quadrant plan. The façade is highlighted by a large clerestory window, which has reinforced concrete mullions and a lintel that follows the curve of the front and extends around the corners. On each side of the façade, there is a pole-mounted roundel displaying 'UndergrounD' with dashed underlining. Above the main window, a tall parapet wall is constructed from soldier courses of brick. The station has two entrances flanking a central poster display, both sheltered by a sweeping canopy that extends along the front of a deep ring beam. This canopy includes two low wings, one curved and one straight, each housing a shop. The canopy features an illuminated fascia with the original frame and renewed panels that display the station's name.

Inside, the ticket hall boasts a ceiling of exposed concrete beams radiating from the curved façade. There is a recess for telephones, with remnants of the original three separate kiosks still visible in the flooring. The wall tiling is of recent date. A notable feature is a 'Festival of Britain' style display unit along the curved inside wall, consisting of a projecting white-painted concrete picture frame supported by slender black piloti, with bronze display panels at each end.

From the ticket hall, a sweeping stair leads to the central island platform. The platform is covered by steel canopies and includes a brick enclosure. At the west end, there is a glazed waiting room with original timber benches, and the external walls feature original poster display panels with black tile surrounds. All other platform furniture is modern.
