Description

The Church of St Mary, located off Ealing Road in Northolt, is a Grade I listed building. The nave was rebuilt and possibly widened towards the south around 1300, while the chancel was rebuilt in the early 16th century. A bell turret was added in the 16th century, and a buttress was added around 1700. The south porch dates from the 19th century. The chancel is made of brick, while the nave is constructed from flint and iron-stone, with cement rendering. The dressings are made of Reigate and other freestone. The chancel windows are modern but feature 16th-century rere-arches. There is no chancel arch. The nave has north windows from around 1300 with two trefoil lights, and an east window from the mid-14th century. A blocked 14th-century north doorway is present, along with similar windows and a south doorway from the 14th century. The west window also dates from the 14th century. The chancel and nave feature an early 16th-century king-post roof. There is a 15th-century piscina in the south wall of the nave and a stoup from around 1300 located east of the south doorway. The church houses three 17th-century bells, brasses from the 15th and 16th centuries, and a font from the mid to late 14th century, which has an oak cover dated 1624. Additionally, there are monuments and floor slabs from the 17th and 18th centuries. The roofs are tiled, and there is a shingled spirelet.
