Description
The diving stage, located to the south of the former service building within the garden centre display area, dates to the period when the Purley Way Lido was operational. Constructed from reinforced concrete, the stage features twin curved supports connected by three diving platforms and a lower access platform. The two lower diving platforms are angled outwards on either side of the central ten-metre platform, with a three-metre platform to the east and a five-metre platform to the west. Original ironwork, including access ladders and tubular safety rails to the platforms, remains largely intact, with the exception of the lowest ladder, which has been removed to prevent access. This is a rare surviving example of a lido diving stage, recognised for its group value as an uncommon structure reflecting recreational leisure pursuits.
