Description

The Coulsdon War Memorial is located at the top of the slope within the Coulsdon Memorial Recreation Ground and is made of Portland stone. This memorial features an open portico or shelter supported by four columns at each corner, which hold up a curved roof. The tops of the columns are decorated with carved fluting. The solid rear wall includes a stone plaque with black painted letters that reads: "TO THE MEMORY OF THE MEN OF COULSDON WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1918 (NAMES)." Below the plaque, there is a small ledge designed to hold wreaths. The front and sides of the memorial are open, and it stands on a raised, paved base that has two steps.
