Description

Two granite blocks, the upper one slightly trapezoidal, resting on a granite base. The north face features a recess formerly containing a drinking fountain (now removed). The south face features in black lettering the inscription: THIS / VILLAGE GREEN / IS DEDICATED TO THE USE / OF THE PUBLIC / IN MEMORY OF THE MEN / AND WOMEN OF THE / URBAN DISTRICT OF / COULSDON & PURLEY, / WHO LAID DOWN THEIR LIVES / IN DEFENCE / OF THEIR COUNTRY / IN THE / WORLD WARS / 1914 - 1918 / 1939 - 1945. Below this, and also on the east and west sides, are the names of the Fallen.
