Description

Numbers 2 to 8, Church Road, Croydon, are probably late 19th-century terraced houses with a boundary wall and entry arches. The houses are two storeys high and consist of four gabled bays rising into the roof. They are constructed of flint with brick dressings and decorative timberwork, with an ornamental tiled roof and two large brick stacks featuring diamond flues. The main gable end on the right has cusped bargeboards with a pendant, and there are four gabled bays to the front, with the outer gables being larger and also featuring pendants. The houses have imitation timber framing on jettied first floors. Upper windows are three-light, while ground floor windows are six-light, all with mullions, transoms, and Gothic heads to the glazing. A central wooden porch is set beneath a steeply pitched roof with cusped bargeboards. A brick boundary wall runs along the front, with tall gatepiers, coping, and pointed decorative arches.
