Description
Union Bank Chambers, located at 21 Katharine Street, was built in 1893. This building has three and a half storeys and an attic, featuring two bays that are articulated differently. It is constructed of red brick, with the ground floor and dressings made of ashlar. The eastern bay has a rusticated ground floor with a rectangular doorway set in a semi-circular headed arch. The mezzanine and second floor windows are framed within a brick panel topped with an ashlar entablature. The attic resembles a squat tower, with ashlar pilasters between each window light and a hipped roof. The western bay includes first and second floor windows adorned with ashlar cornices, while the attic windows are partly set in the wall and partly in the roof space, featuring pilasters and a pediment.
