Description
Norwood Grove is an early 19th century house, potentially incorporating elements of an earlier structure. It is a two-storey stucco building. The front elevation is dominated by a large, two-storey bow in the centre, featuring three sash windows; the ground floor sashes are full-length. All windows have architraves, with the ground-floor windows also featuring cornices. The building has a modillioned cornice and a wooden balustrade, topped by a shallow lead dome with a small drum. The side wings have shallow recesses under segmental heads on the ground floor, one containing a three-light sash window, and the other a window and door. The upper floors of the side elevations also feature sash windows with architraves. The house has a dentilled cornice with a panelled and balustraded parapet. An extensive conservatory, with two domes and iron cresting, extends from the south-east elevation. Terrace steps lead down to the gardens. Internally, some late Georgian features survive, such as grates and doors, but much of the decoration dates from around 1860 and later.
